Default are rangers overpowering

all three fotm have rangers. and y? b/c of the spirits
necro spike
iway(+the traps)
rspike(+the dmg)

and u really cant hold halls consistantly now unless u have a spirit spammer.
once again its that transparent essence that the ranger poops out every 20 secs.

conclusion: spirits are overpowering.

But really, have you noticed that? Maybe monks are overpowered because they can keep people alive!

Ever kill a teams spirit spammer? They're pretty useless. Try it sometime.

Well, you gotta nerf Monks cuz they keep people alive, Mezzes cuz they annoy you to hell, Ether Prodigy cuz that's the only thing people use Elementalists for, Necros because every team you freaking see has one, Ranger because they have these 00b3r 1337 skills that no other profession has (before the Rit), the Warrior because they look ugly...

The only thing I find really scary about rangers is Savage shot. Such a spammable interrupt. ~_~

Spirits are at best just a distraction. You can't effectively use them for their intended purpose very well. Which works in HoH spirit spamming because it often takes a warrior out of the game just to kill spirits that you are dropping.

distracting > savage. 20 second extra disable is hax. I'm glad/sad they didnt make a duplicate of distracting shot.

ive held halls without a spirit spammer before. with only 6 types of characters and 8 party slots... you get the picture. im surprised you didnt bash the bunny thumper

Except for the things that don't get disabled. Since we're talking about HA, I can think of one such thing...

Yea! Nerf rangers, they're too useful!

Nerf necros too, they're as bad as rangers!

Monks are on like every team too, they have this healing crap and it's WAY overpowered!

Mesmers are just annoying, let's nerf them so they can only do /dance emote and not use any skills.

Warriors have adrenaline, that's wayy ovepowered so lets nerf em while we're at it!

Eles are overpowered too, they have like lotsa energy and ether prodigy and like obsidian flame and stuff! Waaaaaaayyyyy too overpowered!

Hmm, and guild lords are cheap! Their amulet needs nerfed! And their health regen! And their total health! Let's nerf ghostly heroes too, they have "monster only" spells, so unfair!



Ok, maybe overdid it alittle, but honestly rangers aren't overpowered, they're just very useful when played properly when they fit in a build, the same as every single other charactar type is very useful when played properly as it fits in whatever build.

I think we need to buff mending though. It needs to be - a gazzillion damage, unable to be stripped by anything, and +6000000000000 health regen so degen can't kill you, but only on warriors! O ya, and make it so other people can't kill you in PvP, that's WAY overpowered.

you deal +1337 and your target is dazed, on fire, special agony and suffers a massive degen of -60 pips.

energy cost: 5
Recharge time 0.5 seconds

Hmm. Spirits, especially fertile season are very helpful in holding altars. As HoH is an altar map, it makes sense to bring someone with the ability to drop this spirit if you have the intention of winning and holding HoH. As it has such a short life but long recharge, the skill Oath shot is really needed to keep it up permanently. As oath shot requires 7 expertise (according to GW freaks) to ensure the hit, this pretty much demands a ranger primary.

Frozen soil is another must have HA ranger skill.

The other thing a ranger brings you is interrupts, especially savage shot. You should be looking to chain interrupt the enemy ghostly as he attempts claim resource, and so you need quite a few "skill interrupt" skills (as opposed to "spell interrupt" skills which dont work on Claim resource).

So yes, people bring rangers' skills if not actual rangers because the maps and scenarios in HA demand that you do. Not doing so will make your job much harder.

What you need to do is learn how to counter these.

Nerf my face.

Using arena of HA as a basis for determining the balance of classes is a fairly sketch affair. Both are prone to domination by gimmicky style builds due to the relatively low level of competition and nature of the maps. Personally I think whilst the game also does need to be balanced for these two game types, it is more a problem with the mechanics specifically involved in them.
